Set Sail Deck Set Verdict

  • At $23.49, SD01 is a sensible buy if you and a friend want to learn One Piece together.
  • You get two complete decks, teaching booklets, a two-player playsheet, two deck cases and one OP17 booster.
  • The priced singles worth at least $1 add up to $15.74, leaving a $7.75 gap against the complete box price.
  • That known subtotal covers 67.0% of the price; nine card types, the booster and accessories remain unvalued.
  • A complete expected value cannot be calculated from those missing prices.
  • This is informational content to help you judge the value of the product, not a recommendation to buy SD01 and flip its singles.

Known cards at or above $14 copiesOctober 7 TCGplayer market quotes$15.74
  • The $1 cutoff keeps small card prices from making the buying case look stronger than it is.
  • Another 64 copies have quoted prices below $1; they are still in the box and are shown in the inventory, but excluded from the declared value subtotal.
  • The remaining 34 copies, spread across nine card types, have no qualified exact-printing quote in this research.
  • Unknown is not the same as worthless: those cards, the booster and accessories are not assigned $0.
  • If you only want Luffy, Ace or Zoro, compare the exact singles you need with their delivered cart price instead of buying the whole set.
  • Market prices are reference prices, not one shopping cart or an amount you could necessarily collect by selling.

  • The Luffy deck contains 51 cards including its Leader, plus ten DON!! cards.
  • Shura’s printed quantity is hidden by the presenter’s overlay in the booklet video; four is inferred from the official 50 non-Leader total minus 46 readable copies.
  • Shura has no admitted price, so that inferred count does not change the $15.74 subtotal.

SD01 for New One Piece Players

  • If neither of you owns a deck, one box gives both players what they need for a first game.
  • Bandai’s guided battle video follows the learning materials; you can use it alongside the books.
  • The $7.75 gap above the counted singles is what you are paying for the rest of the package, before tax.
  • That can be reasonable for two playable decks and help getting started; it is a buying judgment, not a measured price for the accessories.
  • If you already have decks and know the rules, the teaching materials may be less useful to you.
  • This price comparison does not establish that either untouched deck is a competitive tournament choice.
  • Compare the six ST-31 to ST-36 starter decks if you want a different first deck.

The Included OP17 Booster

  • One OP17 pack is included with the complete box.
  • Its contents are random, unlike the two fixed decks.
  • No pack value is added here because this research does not establish a complete exact-printing price and probability model.
  • Treat the pack as an extra to open, not as a promise that its cards will cover the $7.75 gap.

SD01 Price Sources and Method

  • The 21 quoted card types use the English Near Mint SD01 market references displayed on TCGplayer’s Set Sail price guide on October 7, 2026.
  • The two Leaders use Foil quotes; the other quoted deck cards use Normal printing quotes.
  • Each quote is multiplied by the number of copies included, rather than counting each card type once.
  • Only cards priced at $1 or more enter the declared value subtotal; all cards remain in the inventory.
  • Deck quantities come from the English guide books shown at 2:20 (Luffy) and 3:20 (Ace) in a physical Set Sail box unboxing, with the Shura inference identified above.
  • The nine missing cards showed no usable sales data under the selected English Near Mint filters on TCGplayer.
  • Completed-and-sold eBay searches were checked as a fallback, but no sale was qualified as the exact English SD01 printing in the results inspected.
  • Older set versions, Japanese cards, stamped promos, variable listings and mixed-condition lots were not substituted for SD01 prices.
  • No eBay price is used in the calculation; the quoted prices here are TCGplayer market references.
  • The box, singles and quantity checks have separate source dates and qualifications; none establish a guaranteed resale return.
  • Download the October 7 prices, factory quantities, source links and calculation.

Set Sail Deck Set Buying Recommendation

  • For two new players: consider the complete SD01 set near its $24.99 MSRP.
  • At the checked $23.49 delivered price before tax, the learning materials and second deck are the reasons to choose the box.
  • For a few specific cards: price those exact singles with shipping before committing to the set.
  • For extra packs: compare pack prices separately rather than paying for teaching materials you do not need.
