Festival in a Box Atlanta 2026 Verdict

  • Buy the older nonfoils if you mainly want cards for your decks; consider Festival if you want a Commander Draft night and the new foil art.
  • The $249.99 box includes 24 boosters and seven fixed foil singles.
  • Six older nonfoils total $43.73, or $43.25 when the sub-$1 Regrowth is excluded; Tana has no earlier paper nonfoil to include.
  • That $43.25 covers 17.3% of the box price, leaving $206.74 for the boosters, Tana and the new art.
  • That is about $8.61 per booster before shipping and tax, rather than a forecast of what you will open.
  • The online sale opens October 19, with a two-box limit while stock lasts. Official sale details.

Where to Buy Festival in a Box Atlanta 2026

  • You can order the $249.99 Atlanta bundle online at the official Secret Lair storefront starting October 19, 2026.
  • You do not need to attend MagicCon to order the online Festival bundle.
  • Wizards calls this the first chance to get a full Commander Edition box, not its only distribution route.
  • The packs already debuted at Gen Con, and Wizards confirms them at MagicCon: Atlanta on November 13-15, 2026, and future Magic events. Confirmed event distribution.
  • Event access to Commander Edition does not promise the same Atlanta bundle and seven foil extras at every event.
  • These announcements do not confirm a general local-store release date or retail price.

Atlanta 2026 Price and Sale Dates

  • The announced US price is $249.99. Wizards announcement, October 5, 2026.
  • The sale starts October 19, 2026; the announcement does not give a sale closing date.
  • Add your actual shipping and tax before deciding what you can afford.
  • A shipping date and a sale opening date answer different questions.
  • The standalone Commander Edition display had no TCGplayer listings or market price when checked October 6.
  • Its marketplace shipping estimate was November 13; that is not a promise for your Festival order.
  • Check the official Festival storefront for the final region, language, delivery and checkout terms.

Older Playable Cards and Traditional Foils

  • These are English near-mint market comparisons checked on TCGplayer on October 6, 2026.
  • All seven Atlanta singles are traditional foil; Wizards has announced no nonfoil-singles version of this bundle.
  • The six priced older nonfoils total $43.73, or $43.25 after excluding the sub-$1 Regrowth.
  • Tana has no earlier paper nonfoil printing in the search, so that is a six-card subtotal, not a complete seven-card nonfoil basket.
  • If you also need Tana, add its $4.77 Commander 2016 foil: $48.50 for all seven cards, or $48.02 after the cutoff.
  • The foil column excludes etched copies.

What Older Mystery Booster Boxes Tell You

  • You can compare the draft budget with sealed boxes from three earlier Mystery Booster product families.
  • The table uses current unopened TCGplayer market prices checked October 6, 2026, divided by each box’s 24 packs.
Current sealed market prices of three older 24-pack Mystery Booster editions, not expected opened-card value
Earlier editionCurrent sealed box marketBox price divided by 24What differs
Mystery Booster Retail Edition (2020)$398.63Check older box listings$16.61A dedicated foil slot instead of a playtest card.
Mystery Booster Convention Edition (2021)$347.17Check older box listings$14.47Original convention card pool with a playtest slot.
Mystery Booster 2 (2024)$303.53Check older box listings$12.65Closest release: Festival and event distribution, special frames and playtest cards.
  • Mystery Booster 2 is the closest comparison because it also reached buyers through Festival in a Box and Magic events.
  • Its $303.53 box price works out to about $12.65 per pack, above Festival’s $8.61 remaining budget per pack.
  • You would spend less per pack on Festival after allowing for the six older nonfoils, but that does not tell you what the cards you open will be worth.
  • Older supply and collectible demand affect these sealed prices.
  • All three older editions have 15-card packs; Commander Edition has 20 cards and different slots.
  • These are current prices for past products, not their launch prices, a prediction of appreciation, or guaranteed new-pack resale prices.
  • Wizards’ Mystery Booster 2 breakdown explains that earlier product’s separate card pool and slot structure.

Atlanta Foil Prices and the Parallax Tide Comparison

  • For a foil comparison: six priced older traditional foils total $253.49; Dance of the Dead has no earlier traditional foil to price.
  • That is $3.50 above the Festival price, but $199.99 comes from the old Nemesis Parallax Tide alone.
  • Remove that Parallax Tide and the other five foil comparisons total $53.50.
  • You are not getting a $199.99 Nemesis foil in this box.
  • A newer foil with different art and supply can trade at a very different price.
  • The old card’s price can explain why collectors care about the new foil, but it cannot tell you what the new one will sell for.
  • No earlier traditional foil Dance of the Dead was found in the complete printing search.
  • Its missing comparison does not mean the new foil is worthless.
  • Buy for the new art if you like it; check prices for these exact new printings before making a resale claim.
Dance of the Dead gets a textless foil, while Tana and Tymna offer a ready-made partner pair. You can choose older playable versions if the art is not your reason to buy.

Atlanta Promo and Secret Gallery Card Roles

Parallax Tide

  • You can temporarily exile lands by spending its fade counters.
  • Its $15.00 older nonfoil gets you the same gameplay; the $199.99 Nemesis foil is a different collectible.

Regrowth

  • You can return a card from your graveyard to your hand.
  • The older nonfoil costs $0.48, so it adds no value to the six-card practical total.

Viridian Revel

  • You may draw when an artifact goes from the battlefield into an opponent’s graveyard.
  • That includes their sacrificed Treasure; the graveyard it goes to matters, not who controlled the artifact.

Assassin's Trophy

  • You can destroy an opponent’s permanent, but they may replace it with a basic land.
  • The older $1.04 nonfoil is the inexpensive way to add that effect to a deck.

Dance of the Dead

  • You can return a creature from a graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
  • It skips its normal untap, but its controller may pay one generic and one black mana during their upkeep to untap it.
  • Declining that payment leaves the creature in play.
  • Removing Dance of the Dead makes the creature’s controller sacrifice it.
  • The $14.92 Ice Age card is nonfoil; the new textless foil has no older traditional-foil price comparison.

Tana, the Bloodsower

  • When Tana deals combat damage to a player, you make that many 1/1 green Saproling tokens.
  • An older Commander 2016 foil costs $4.77; the artwork premium is a separate reason to choose this box.

Tymna the Weaver

  • At the start of each of your postcombat main phases, count the opponents who were dealt combat damage that turn.
  • You may pay that much life to draw that many cards.
  • Cecil Harvey is an alternate-name Tymna printing with the same gameplay, priced at $10.86 in nonfoil.

Auspicious Aquarium

  • Treat this playtest card as a casual extra; agree with your group before using it.
  • Its value is not included in either seven-card comparison.

Commander Draft Cost for Eight Players

  • One 24-pack box supplies three packs each for eight players.
  • Split the full $249.99 equally and each player pays about $31.25 before shipping and tax.
  • Agree who keeps the four Secret Gallery cards and four promos before collecting anyone’s money.
  • If the host keeps the extras and credits the $43.25 nonfoil subtotal, the other contents cost about $25.84 per player.
  • That credit is a planning choice, not money the host has already made by selling the cards.
  • You draft two cards at a time and build 60-card decks with basic lands. Official Commander Draft instructions.
  • The special draft rule lets eligible commanders with no more than one color pair as though they had partner.
  • That special permission belongs to this draft format; it does not change your ordinary Commander deckbuilding rules.

Commander Edition Legality Dates

  • New-to-Magic commanders become Commander-legal November 13, 2026. Current legality notice.
  • Those new cards become legal in Legacy, Vintage and other Eternal formats January 1, 2027.
  • Reprints retain the formats where their existing versions are legal.
  • Playtest and acorn-stamped cards are not legal in Constructed formats.
  • The October 19 Festival sale does not move those legality dates forward.

  • These percentages describe the named slot across boosters, not the chance of a specific card. Published pack breakdown.
  • The rounded special-slot percentages need not total exactly 100%.
  • You cannot use the 4.75% foil-commander rate as the chance of opening a particular expensive commander.
  • A complete expected resale value also needs exact printing prices and the probability of each card within its slot.
  • Until those inputs are available, the full box average, median and chance of recovering its price remain unmeasured.
Tana’s tokens can help you deal combat damage to more opponents, so Tymna can draw more cards. If that is your buying goal, compare the older copies before paying for the new art.

Adjust the Comparison to Your Budget

  • If you only want some of the fixed cards, subtract only those cards’ older-copy prices from your checkout total.
  • Allow a separate amount for the new foil art if you prefer it to the older copies.
  • Divide what remains by 24 to see the pack price you would need to justify.
  • These are your hypothetical spending budgets, not predicted sales or opening outcomes.

Festival Price Sources and Comparison Method

  • All seven reprints were searched across their English paper printing histories, including released Secret Lairs.
  • Future Festival editions were excluded from older-copy price comparisons.
  • The final dollar amounts use the live TCGplayer near-mint comparison tables, checked October 6, 2026.
  • The selected seller’s damaged-card price was not substituted for the near-mint reference.
  • Cecil Harvey and Tymna are the same card for deckbuilding; the alias is named so you can find the exact comparison.
  • The opening nonfoil subtotal excludes Regrowth’s $0.48, while the table still shows its price.
  • The foil total contains six traditional foils; Dance of the Dead stays unpriced in that column.
  • The separate nonfoil column contains six priced cards; Tana’s earlier paper printings are foil or etched foil.
  • Etched finishes and unmatched artwork are not silently mixed into the traditional-foil comparison.
  • Market references are not guaranteed cash offers, and missing prices are not assumed to be zero.
  • Download the dated prices, exact printing references and arithmetic.
  • Wizards’ Festival announcement establishes the package and sale terms.
  • Wizards’ collecting guide establishes pack slots, draft rules and legality.
  • Card rules were checked against Gatherer: Dance of the Dead, Viridian Revel, Tana and Tymna.

Festival Buying Recommendations

  • For decks: buy the older singles you need.
  • For a Commander Draft night: compare roughly $31.25 per player with your group’s budget.
  • For the new art: decide how much you want to pay for the seven foils and playtest extra before pricing the packs.
  • For resale: wait for actual new-print prices and defensible pack-value inputs before treating this as a profit opportunity.
  • Check the final Festival checkout total and delivery terms when the October 19 sale opens.
