Reality Fracture Prerelease Value Guide: What to Keep, Trade For, and Sell

Check the cards with early play demand, understand the six-pack pull odds, and ask your event store for a real cash or credit offer before relying on preorder prices.

Evidence snapshot: September 25, 2026. Reality Fracture prerelease begins today. Paper release is October 2; Arena and Magic Online arrive September 29. Prices and deck counts below are early observations, not established post-release values.

The short version

  • Pulls to check before trading: Emrakul, the Exigent Doom; The Theorist, Jace Beleren; Craterclaw Colossus; Chandra, Chill of Compliance; Bloodline Recollector; Hexhaven Invigorator; and premium versions of playable cards.
  • Cards to trade for if the price is modest: Ghalta the Unstoppable as an inexpensive uncommon; Pompous Battlemage for the emerging red spells shell; Craterclaw Colossus for Commander demand; Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun for Commander; and portal view lands if the exact printing is underpriced against other treatments.
  • What to sell or trade quickly: A normal printing whose opening price depends mostly on preview excitement, especially when a retailer's actual buy quote is strong. A preorder retail listing is the price a store asks, not the amount it will pay you.
  • First place to ask about selling today: The local game store hosting your prerelease is the most practical and likely candidate for a same-day cash or store-credit offer. Ask its buyer whether it is accepting Reality Fracture singles and which printings it wants; policies and quotes vary by store.
  • Biggest odds misconception: A prerelease kit has six Play Boosters, not Collector Boosters. It cannot contain the serialized Bloodline Recollector or facet foil shattered mirror cards. Those are Collector Booster chases. Wizards' collecting guide

Play your sealed event first. Photograph or record the exact collector number and finish of valuable pulls before trading. The same card can have several printings with very different prices.

Check the exact printing before using an opening retail price as trade value.

Reality Fracture cards to watch in a prerelease kit

Reality Fracture guide comparison table
Card or group Evidence available September 25 Weekend action
Emrakul, the Exigent Doom Card Kingdom's exact FRA card page asks $39.99 for regular #0001. EDHREC shows 3,370 deck inclusions. Check the exact printing and obtain a cash buy quote before accepting a trade based on the retail ask. This is a high-dollar opening pull, but supply expands next week.
Ghalta the Unstoppable Card Kingdom's exact FRA #0260 page asks $1.29 for a near-mint nonfoil. This card is uncommon; EDHREC shows 1,640 early deck inclusions. Treat a regular copy as an inexpensive play or trade target, not a $40 chase. Price any different treatment by its own exact listing.
The Theorist, Jace Beleren Card Kingdom's exact FRA card page displays $21.99 for regular #0043 but was out of stock at this check; EDHREC shows 9,150 inclusions. Hold until you know whether Commander buyers pay more for the exact treatment. If a strong cash quote appears, weigh it against the chance of increased opening supply.
Craterclaw Colossus Card Kingdom's exact FRA card page asks $16.99 for regular #0078; EDHREC shows 5,160 inclusions. One of the clearer play-demand trades: a broad early Commander audience supports interest beyond collector appeal. Still confirm that the other trader values your card at a cash-comparable price.
Chandra, Chill of Compliance Card Kingdom's exact FRA card page asks $10.99 for regular #0212; EDHREC shows 4,070 inclusions. Keep an eye on both Commander and 60-card brews. Do not infer tournament results from preview lists.
Bloodline Recollector Card Kingdom's exact FRA card page asks $11.99 for regular #0049; EDHREC shows 2,620 inclusions. Separate ordinary copies from special treatments. The numbered 500-copy version is Collector Booster only.
Hexhaven Invigorator Card Kingdom's exact FRA card page asks $39.99 for regular #0106; EDHREC shows 3,590 inclusions and 1.4% inclusion among eligible decks. Compare a real buylist offer with the price of cards you want. The high retail ask could compress once more kits are opened.
Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun EDHREC shows 2,990 as a card in other Commander decks, while the existing TCG Spikes commander guide explains its low-cost spell-protection plan as a commander. Trade for a normal copy if it is priced below other marquee legends. This is a strategic upside pick, not a guaranteed spike.
Pompous Battlemage A Standard preview discussion singled out its one-mana prowess body and prepared spell. Card Kingdom asks $0.99, while MTGGoldfish shows a higher TCGplayer mid quote in its snapshot. A low-cost playset trade is more defensible than paying a premium for four copies. Watch actual Standard lists after Arena launch. The two retail references are different measures, not an arbitrage spread.
Portal view lands and tower basics Wizards says five rare portal view lands can appear in Play Boosters and that tower basics occupy a land slot. The rare slot lists a 1% portal view land outcome, with an additional less than 1% foil-slot route. Check art, foil, collector number, and sold listings. Do not assume every attractive land is a rare chase.

The Card Kingdom amounts are asking prices checked on exact Reality Fracture card pages on September 25, not sold prices or buylist offers. The listed Jace price was out of stock at the check. EDHREC numbers are early public deck-builder inclusions from its FRA set page; they measure interest, not competitive win rate. Both sources can change through the weekend. Correction, September 25: An earlier version mistakenly assigned Hexhaven Invigorator's $39.99 set-list price to Ghalta. Ghalta's exact #0260 page showed $1.29.

Trade targets by evidence level

  • Most observable Commander demand: The Theorist, Jace Beleren; Craterclaw Colossus; Chandra, Chill of Compliance; Hexhaven Invigorator; Emrakul, the Exigent Doom. These have thousands of early EDHREC inclusions. Count is not proof that a card's price will rise.
  • Best cheap competitive test: Pompous Battlemage. The red prowess theory has specific forum discussion and a low regular-copy asking price, but no meaningful post-release tournament sample exists yet.
  • Commander construction bet: Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun. Its spell-protection text supports a distinct deck plan; price discipline matters because compelling text alone does not prove scarce supply.
  • Cosmetic and exact-printing trade: Rare portal view lands and unusual foils. Ask the other trader to price the same collector number and finish, then compare recent completed sales when they exist.

Public Standard brews, such as the five community battle decks posted on prerelease day, show experiments rather than a metagame. We found no post-release FRA tournament decklist sample as of this snapshot. The first useful checkpoints are Arena and Magic Online play from September 29, followed by paper events after October 2. What public 60-card lists are actually testing

Reality Fracture guide comparison table
Public brew FRA commitments visible in the list Signal and limit
Mono-red spell deck 4 Pompous Battlemage, 4 Stingcaster Mage, 4 Master of Barbs, 4 Stingerquill Voxmancer, 2 No Admittance, 2 Chandra, Torch of Defiance. A concrete shell for the one-mana Battlemage thesis. One published list is evidence of interest, not proof that the curve or matchups work.
Hexhaven Invigorator Fight 4 Hexhaven Invigorator, 4 Roiling Canopy, 4 Simulacrum Shaper, 4 Vigorbloom Charm. Shows builders testing Invigorator as a four-of engine rather than merely a Commander novelty.
Emmy Ramp 4 Hexhaven Invigorator and 2 Emrakul, the Exigent Doom. A second public shell uses Invigorator to support a much larger top end. The two brews do not establish independent tournament adoption.

The named lists are user-built exports visible before release. They have no cited match record or event placement. Keep the competitive signal in a separate lane from EDHREC's Commander counts.

What are the odds in one prerelease kit?

Wizards lists six Play Boosters plus one traditional-foil promo, a deck box, and a die in a kit. Each Play Booster has three echoed-pair cards, one regular rare or mythic slot, one traditional foil slot, and a land slot. Wizards does not provide the promo's card-level distribution in those product descriptions, so the promo is excluded from the calculations below. Official prerelease pack, official slot breakdown

Reality Fracture guide comparison table
Outcome Official single-booster rate or slot information Six-booster kit interpretation
Special Guest One replaces a common in 1 in 55 Play Boosters. About 10.4% chance of at least one if booster events are independent: 1 - (54/55)^6. This does not include the promo.
Regular-frame mythic in the main rare slot Wizards lists 14.8% for the 20 regular-frame mythics in this slot. About 61.7% chance of at least one across six independent boosters: 1 - (1 - .148)^6. Other mythic treatments have separate listed rates, so this is not the chance of any mythic from that slot.
Regular-frame mythic in the foil slot Wizards lists 1.2% for the 26 regular-frame foil mythics. About 7.0% chance of at least one across six independent boosters: 1 - (1 - .012)^6. This excludes separately listed special treatments.
Regular-frame rare or mythic echoed-pair card Each of three echoed-pair slots lists 6.7% regular-frame rare and 1.4% regular-frame mythic card frequency. The kit has 18 echoed-pair card slots. Those published base rates imply about 1.21 regular-frame rare cards and 0.25 regular-frame mythic cards on average. Borderless echoed-pair treatments have additional rates listed only as less than 1%, so an exact all-treatment expected count is unavailable. Echoed pairs are correlated, and these are expected counts, not a chance of at least one distinct card.
Non-foil portal view land 1% of the regular rare/mythic slot. About 5.9% chance of at least one in six boosters under the independent-booster approximation. A foil version can also occur in the foil slot at less than 1%; an exact combined rate is unpublished.
Tower basic land 21.8% non-foil plus 5.5% foil in the land slot. Expect roughly 1.64 tower basics per six boosters. A tower basic is not automatically a high-value pull.

The independence calculations are transparent approximations across sealed boosters; Wizards publishes slot rates, not a verified kit-level distribution. We do not calculate an exact named-card probability from a set's card count because the official product page does not establish equal frequency for every printing and treatment.

Collector Booster chases that cannot come from the kit

  • Serialized Bloodline Recollector: 500 numbered copies worldwide in Collector Boosters only. Wizards lists its Collector Booster appearance as less than 1%; it does not publish an exact pack probability.
  • Facet foil shattered mirror: Collector Boosters only; roughly 6,000 copies of each rare and 3,000 of each mythic. Each category is listed at less than 1% in the foil Booster Fun slot.
  • Fracture foil Japan Showcase: 1% of Collector Boosters in the specified foil Booster Fun slot. A prerelease Play Booster does not have that slot.
  • Traditional foil Special Guest: 6.1% in the Collector Booster foil Booster Fun slot. The Play Booster Special Guest route is different: one in 55 boosters replacing a common.

All treatment rates and distribution restrictions come from Wizards' collecting guide. Do not add rates from different slots as if they were disjoint card-level pull probabilities.

Can you sell prerelease pulls to an online retailer this weekend?

Start at the store hosting your event. Its buyer can inspect the exact card while you are there and may offer cash or store credit shortly after you open it. That is the most likely route to a same-day offer because the large online sell lists checked below did not show Reality Fracture entries on prerelease day. It is still a possibility, not a guaranteed purchase: ask whether the store is buying new-set singles yet, what condition and treatment it will accept, and how much it offers in cash versus credit. A store buyer's account of posting new-set buy prices by the Tuesday after prerelease shows that even active local buyers may wait a few days.

Outlet What is verified What to do before shipping
Card Kingdom buylist At 2:38 p.m. Eastern on September 25, its live singles sell interface returned zero results with the edition set to Reality Fracture. Reality Fracture Variants, Reality Fracture Commander, and Commander Variants also returned zero. Its seller instructions explain the buylist process. No FRA row was available to add to a test sell cart in this session. Check again later because buylist demand can change.
Star City Games Sell List At the same check, its live MTG Sell List returned zero results when filtered to the Reality Fracture set. An exact search for Emrakul, the Exigent Doom also returned zero. No eligible FRA row was available to add. The site additionally requires login to put an item into a sell cart, but login was not the reason for the zero public search results.
CoolStuffInc buylist Its public buylist displayed active quotes for other recent sets. Reality Fracture did not appear on the first page of 500 displayed items. This page check does not rule out an entry on a later buylist page. Search the exact card and finish before treating it as an available buyer.
TCGplayer marketplace Its presale policy describes seller eligibility and presale rules. This is a seller marketplace, not a guaranteed retailer buylist. If eligible, compare net proceeds after fees, shipping, and the time required to sell.

Current finding: Direct sell-list tests found no eligible Reality Fracture row at Card Kingdom or Star City Games at 2:38 p.m. Eastern on prerelease day, so no test sell cart or order was created. CoolStuffInc's first public buylist page also showed no FRA entry, with later pages untested. These checks are stronger than inferring buy interest from presale listings, but they are a timed snapshot, not a claim that the retailers will refuse FRA cards throughout the weekend. Ask your prerelease store first, then compare any cash or store-credit offer with an actual online sell quote and the value of the trade you want.

When have new-set buylists opened before?

  • Card Kingdom: In a June 11, 2021 discussion during Modern Horizons 2 prerelease, one seller reported that CK's new-set buylist began with a limited selection around the middle of official release week, expanded through Friday or Saturday, and could offer useful quotes in the first 48 hours after release. The commenter explicitly clarified that this meant the week after prerelease, not prerelease week. This is one historical seller account, not a published CK schedule or evidence that its 2026 process is identical.
  • CoolStuffInc: A 2025 buylist discussion includes a seller who reported attractive CoolStuffInc quotes in the first few weeks after a set release. That supports checking it after launch but does not establish the first day it posts a new set.
  • Star City Games: I found no dated, recent, public evidence that establishes when its online sell list first adds a new set. A 2005 account from its then general manager says the company bought cards in person at prereleases, but that old in-person practice cannot establish today's online listing timetable.
  • Other stores can differ: In a 2025 discussion, a local store buyer said the store aimed to post new-set buy prices by the Tuesday after prerelease weekend. That is a useful example of an earlier window, not a policy for CK, SCG, or CoolStuffInc.

For Reality Fracture, the evidence makes September 29 through the October 2 paper release weekend the practical window to recheck Card Kingdom, then CoolStuffInc and Star City Games as their searchable lists change. This is a monitoring window inferred from limited historical accounts, not a guaranteed start date for any retailer. An exact-printing quote and accepted quantity matter more than the set appearing in a filter.

A quick value check at the trade table

  1. Identify the exact card, collector number, language, foil finish, and condition.
  2. Look for a completed sale of that exact printing. If there are none, label the available number as an asking price.
  3. Ask the store for its cash and credit offers, or build an online sell cart for a firm buylist quote.
  4. Compare the quote with the value of the card you would receive in trade. Price both sides with the same measure.
  5. Decide whether you want cash now, a card you will actually play, or exposure to a speculative price. Do not treat the preorder ask as guaranteed cash value.
Special treatments need their own exact-printing quote; a regular-card price is not a substitute.

Method and next update

This is a prerelease-day snapshot of official pack composition, public deck-building adoption, one named retailer's asking prices, community Standard brews, and retailer sell policies. It does not use retailer asks as cash value, count unreleased FRC cards as Play Booster pulls, or project a tournament metagame from preview discussion. Watch the September 29 digital launch and October 2 paper release for actual decklist adoption and market depth. Wizards has also warned that Play Booster availability may be tighter in North America, while some products face regional delays; that can affect opening supply without proving any individual card will hold its preview price.
