The Wizards announcement lists Hartford October 23 to 25 and Beijing October 31 to November 1. Its promotional banner shows Beijing October 30 to November 1. Kadou's detailed schedule resolves the difference: Friday, October 30 has side events, while the Spotlight main event starts Saturday, October 31. The same distinction applies in Hartford: Friday belongs to the wider weekend and the Melee main-event page sets the tournament's Saturday start.

Hartford registration and decklist plan

  • Star City Games' Melee page shows open registration and an entry charge of $75 plus $6.74 in fees as checked October 15. Check the live page before paying because prices and capacity can change.
  • The listed venue is the Connecticut Convention Center. The first round begins Saturday, October 24 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern. Plan arrival around the organizer's check-in and decklist cutoff, not merely the round start.
  • Melee says your profile needs both your Wizards Account email and display name to enroll. It requires decklists through its Player Controller and warns that a late list incurs tardiness penalties.
  • Day One is nine Swiss rounds. A player advances to Day Two with 18 match points; wins and draws can both count toward that total. Day Two has six Swiss rounds followed by a Top 8 elimination playoff. This structure is for Hartford; do not copy it onto Beijing without its organizer's rules.
  • Check the live organizer page for remaining seats and any schedule change before booking travel.

Beijing registration and venue plan

  • Kadou Events lists the Standard main event for October 31 to November 1 and a CNY 450 entry charge as checked October 15. Its page says registration is open; use its current registration guide for the payment method and final terms.
  • The venue is the Capital International Exhibition & Convention Center, East Registration Hall, third-floor Multipurpose Exhibition Hall, No. 55 Yudong Road, Shunyi District. Kadou recommends Subway Line 15 to China International Exhibition Center Station, about 500 meters from the venue.
  • Kadou lists Friday side events, including Standard and Modern qualifiers, plus on-demand drafts across the three days. The Friday program does not move the main-event start to October 30.
  • The organizer says registrants must be at least 18 and otherwise eligible. Read its participation rules for refund timing, late-arrival penalties, deck requirements and local registration terms before committing to travel.
Jace Beleren promo card for Magic Spotlight Fracture
Every main-event entrant gets a nonfoil Jace promo. The Top 128 at each event also get a foil copy.

Jace promo and prize thresholds

  • The nonfoil Jace Beleren is a participation promo for the main event, not a prize reserved for a winning record. Wizards credits the art to Cristi Balanescu.
  • Top 128 is the threshold for an additional traditional foil copy at each event. A foil copy is not promised simply for joining a side event.
  • The $50,000 amount is each main event's total prize pool. It is not a participation payment or the value of the Jace card.
  • Top 8 players at each main event earn invitations to an upcoming Pro Tour. The event winner also receives the Black Lotus-themed trophy.
  • If you mainly want Jace, weigh the entry fee and travel against the weekend you want to play. The prize pool is for top finishes, not a return on every entry.

A useful week-before checklist

  • Confirm the correct city, event day, venue and registration record on the organizer's current page.
  • Check the current Standard legality and banned list for your exact deck, then test the version you intend to register. Reality Fracture cards are allowed when legal in Standard, but the set theme does not require you to play them.
  • Submit the exact main deck and sideboard through the organizer's stated system before its deadline. Hartford explicitly uses Melee's Player Controller; follow Kadou's own instructions in Beijing.
  • Bring physical cards, sleeves, needed counters and a way to track your match results. Replace marked or damaged sleeves before the event rather than discovering the problem in a round.
  • Decide whether you also want Friday or post-elimination side events. Read those listings separately because formats, fees and schedules differ from the main event.

Buy singles after your decklist is set

Buy only cards in your tested Standard list. Our Reality Fracture singles pages show exact cards and available price context, while the prerelease watchlist explains early attention. Neither is a ranking of proven Spotlight decks.

  • The ten listings below are options only if your registered list needs those cards.
  • The Theorist, Jace Beleren is a set card; the event's Jace Beleren participation promo is a different card.
  • Match printing, language, finish and delivery date before paying.

Opening a box cannot guarantee a missing tournament single. If you want packs for separate at-home draft practice, compare the Play Booster Display price page first. That sealed product is optional and does not include event entry.
