Change your leader
Mihawk Ban Date and Affected Printings
- OP14-020 Dracule Mihawk is banned from official and sanctioned tournaments starting October 12, 2026. Check the number at the bottom of your Leader card before entering your next event.
- The ban includes parallel and alternate-art versions of OP14-020. A different picture doesn’t give you a legal version of the same card number.
- The number identifies the card affected by the ban. This is a specific leader card, not every card named Dracule Mihawk, so a different Mihawk Character needs its own legality check.
- Bandai announced the change on September 24, and the current English restriction list now includes it among the active bans. The ban is now in effect for the English regions covered by that list.
- This guide covers the official English site for North America, Europe, Oceania, Latin America and the Middle East. For another language or region, use its own current event rules.

The reason
Why Bandai Banned OP14-020 Mihawk
- In its September 24 announcement, Bandai says newer card combinations made this leader stronger than intended and limited the viability of Slash-attribute leaders.
- The printed OP14-020 leader gets +1000 power while your opponent’s leader has the Slash attribute. Its other ability can turn up to three of your DON!! cards active, giving you resources to spend again that turn.
- That ability is once per turn, requires you to rest one of your cards, and needs a Character with a cost of at least 5 in play. After using it, you can’t play Character cards during that turn.
- The Slash bonus checks the opposing leader’s attribute, not Mihawk’s attack target. It still applies if Mihawk attacks a Character while that leader has Slash.
- Bandai gives a reason for the ban, not a ranked list of decks you should switch to. The announcement doesn’t publish a full matchup table, so pick a legal leader that suits the cards and playstyle you want to keep.
Same number, same ban
Does Alternate-Art Mihawk Remain Legal?
| Card | October 12 position | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OP14-020, ordinary artwork | Banned leader | Remove it from your tournament deck. |
| OP14-020, parallel artwork | Same ban | Changing the artwork doesn’t change the card number. |
| P-163 Dracule Mihawk | Separate replacement leader announced | Check distribution and event legality before relying on it. |
| Another Mihawk card number | Not named by this specific ban | Check the full restriction list and your event’s rules. |

P-163 Mihawk Replacement: What Changes?
- Bandai plans to distribute P-163 Dracule Mihawk at future events. The new card has a different number and ability; it isn’t permission to keep using OP14-020.
- The published P-163 sample is still a green, 5000-power, 5-life leader with the Slash attribute and The Seven Warlords of the Sea type.
- The distinction is how you use DON!!. The official play guide explains that DON!! pays card costs or boosts a Leader or Character’s power. Making rested DON!! active again lets you pay more costs; giving it to Mihawk instead doesn’t refill that spending pool.
- P-163 gives up to three rested DON!! cards to this leader. It doesn’t turn three DON!! cards active for you to spend on other cards.
- The new Activate: Main ability is once per turn. You rest one of your cards, and there must be a Character costing at least 5 in play.
- The sample no longer has OP14-020’s bonus against an opposing Slash leader or its printed restriction on playing Character cards after the ability.
- For example, suppose you have three rested DON!! and meet Mihawk’s activation conditions. OP14-020 can turn those three active, letting you spend them on another card. P-163 attaches them to Mihawk instead; they aren’t three active DON!! in your cost area.
- If your old turn depended on spending the same DON!! twice, rebuild that turn before you rely on P-163. Swapping the leader alone won’t make it work the same way.
- The September 24 notice doesn’t give an exact distribution date, event list or guaranteed way to obtain P-163. Confirm those details with your organizer before planning a tournament around it.
- Don’t assume an old OP14-020 is an accepted proxy for P-163. Ask your organizer about any permitted event-specific procedure.

Current One Piece Bans and Banned Pairs
- As checked October 12, 2026, the official regional English list contains six banned card numbers and no cards in its Restricted category.
- The six bans are OP06-047 Charlotte Pudding, OP03-040 Nami, OP06-086 Gecko Moria, ST10-001 Trafalgar Law, OP06-116 Reject and OP14-020 Dracule Mihawk.
- A banned pair is a different restriction: you can’t put both members of that pair in the same deck. It isn’t a declaration that each member is individually banned.
| First card | Can’t share its deck with |
|---|---|
| OP07-115 I Re-Quasar Helllp!! | EB04-058 Borsalino |
| OP11-040 Monkey.D.Luffy | OP11-067 Charlotte Katakuri |
| OP11-040 Monkey.D.Luffy | OP08-069 Charlotte Linlin |
- For example, a deck using OP11-040 Luffy must omit both listed Charlotte cards. The two pair entries don’t ban that Luffy leader outright.
- Restrictions can change again. Check the current list before an event rather than treating this dated snapshot as permanent.
Before you leave
Mihawk Deck Checklist for Your Next Tournament
- Check your event date and regional rules. October 12 is the effective date, not a warning about a later season.
- Read your leader’s exact card number. If it’s OP14-020, choose another legal leader and rebuild the deck to suit it.
- Check every card against the six bans and each banned pair, including your chosen leader’s pair restrictions.
- If you want to use P-163, confirm that you can obtain it and that your event accepts it. Keep a legal alternative ready until those details are settled.
- Practise the turns you expect to play with your new leader. P-163’s attached DON!! don’t reproduce OP14-020’s active-DON!! reset, so keep track of what you can still pay for after using the ability.
- If you own a valuable alternate-art copy, separate its collecting value from whether you can register it for an event. This guide doesn’t establish a current price or forecast a price collapse.
